Infant Formula & Toddler Milk Drink FAQs

If you are considering changing between your current purchased brand of baby formula to a new formulation and have any doubts on the best way to do this, it is best to discuss this with your health care practitioner. Every baby is different and their needs may vary. Your health care professional can guide you in this area.

The primary purpose of differentiating between products is in order to align the changes in natural breast milk which occurs after the first months of breast feeding.

The primary difference between the Infant Formula and Follow-On Formula is in the protein composition. Infant Formula is made from Whey Dominant Protein whereas Follow-On Formula is Casein Dominant Protein.

All of Australia’s Own Formulas are premium formulations, based upon science and the best of Australian Dairy. Our Diamond and Gold ranges contain an excellent Australian Cow’s milk source of protein. The Diamond range does contain additional nutritional ingredients v Gold. Please refer to each individual Nutritional Information panel for reference by product.

Follow-On formula should be used for infants aged between 6-12 months if not breastfeeding. However, it is not suitable for babies over 12 months as their growing needs change. In this instance, you can move to a Toddler Milk Drink.

Our products contain docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and arachidonic acid (ARA) which are Omega 3 & 6 fatty acids. These are sourced from fatty fish including salmon, tuna and mackerel (among others).

DHA and ARA are both found naturally in breast milk.

All of our Australia’s Own Products comply with the necessary Australian Quality Assurance and Food Safety standards. Should you need more information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Australia’s Own Infant Formula

Breast feeding is best for babies.

Before considering to bottle feed your baby, please seek the advice of your doctor, midwife or healthcare professional. Good maternal nutrition is preferred for breast feeding and the introduction of bottle feeding may lead to a reduction in your own breast milk supply, and may be difficult to reverse once bottle feeding is introduced. Social and financial implications should be considered when selecting a method of feeding for your baby. It is important to follow instructions exactly when preparing bottle fed formulations. Incorrect preparation such as inadequate sterilisation of feeding equipment and not boiling water correctly, may affect the health of your baby.
